Roy Hodgson set to receive backing to add striker in January

Crystal Palace have struggled to find the back of the net in the Premier League this season, having scored just five goals in their nine matches so far.

There is no doubt that the Eagles will need to add firepower to their squad in the summer, and it appears Roy Hodgson could be about to get a timely boost to make that happen.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, it is understood he will be given significant funds in the January transfer window to bring in a top striker.

Palace have had to utilise the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend in positions that are not necessarily natural to them, with Christian Benteke out on the sidelines until early 2019 with a knee injury.

Alexander Sorloth has struggled since his arrival last winter, whilst Jordan Ayew is yet to get going, forcing the club to take a look in the transfer market this upcoming January.

The Verdict:

The news that Crystal Palace and Roy Hodgson will get significant backing for a new striker will come as some good news.

With just five goals to their name at the moment, and with just Huddersfield Town having netted less, it clearly is not good enough and things currently look rather ominous for the Selhurst Park outfit.

The club will be desperate to find their shooting boots and will want to ensure they are in a better position by the time January comes around, otherwise, it could be too late for someone to fire them up the Premier League table.
