In an attempt to build for the future under fire Reds gaffer Roy Hodgson is planning to raid Championship strugglers Preston North End of their one and only shining light and take starlet Adam Barton to Anfield.
Barton, 19, has been thrust into the North End first team picture this season and has performed admirably whilst all around him have struggled to make any impression on the Championship.
The 1 cap Northern Ireland midfielder was on Blackburn Rovers books as a youngster but was released at the tender age of 16 due to a serious back injury. PNE took a chance on the youngster and his career has flourished at Deepdale.
It is believed a fee of around £5 million would be enough to secure the signature of the talented boy wonder. Liverpool are hoping to lower the value by insisting on add-ons dependent on first team outings for the Reds.
It has also been rumoured they would loan the player back out to Preston to aid his development and also aid North Ends battle against the dreaded drop to League 1.
