‘Running out of excuses’: Pundit delivers scathing verdict on Arsenal figure as woes continue

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were left feeling disappointed when their side fell to a loss against Bournemouth over the weekend. It has been yet another mixed season at the Emirates under Arsene Wenger, and the ‘Wenger Out‘ fans are beginning to creep out once again.

Wenger has been a divisive manager over the last few years, with onlookers either firmly behind his tenure or desperate for him to quit the club, and it appears as though Chris Sutton is a man that falls firmly in the latter camp.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Sutton has delivered a scathing verdict on Wenger as the Gunners continue to stumble in the English top flight.

Wenger said: “Arsene Wenger is running out of excuses. He can no longer point to his record of Champions League qualification. Hopes of ending the season on a high with another FA Cup triumph have been dashed”.

He added: “After the Invincibles season of 2003-04, he could never have imagined how bad things would get. Wenger is in real danger of leaving the club in a worse position than when he found it”.

Sutton is clearly holding nothing back, with the former Chelsea forward clearly not impressed by Wenger.

Arsenal currently sit in 6th place in the Premier League, and are 8 points fourth spot in the Premier League.

Landlord’s Verdict

It’s tough to argue with Sutton’s point of view. Arsenal are clearly not improving, and the departures of key players like Alexis Sanchez is only going to worsen their situation.

It isn’t irrecoverable, of course, and they could still breach into the top four this season, but Wenger clearly needs to completely reinvent himself as manager.

At present, there are no signs suggesting that that could be the case soon.
