Southgate will name his squad next Thursday for the forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixture against Spain and the friendly against Switzerland.
The Fulham youngster will be called for England sooner or later and was under discussion for the World Cup squad before it was deemed the 18-year-old had played a lot of first-team football at Craven Cottage last season.
The Cottagers will be delighted that one of their star players is finally receiving international recognition after an impressive campaign last time out, and a good start to life in the Premier League.
Indeed, the young Englishman was sensational during Fulham’s push for promotion last season and will no doubt play a huge part in keeping them up in the current campaign.
Therefore, the left-back definitely deserves a call-up to the England squad and will play a part in all of the major competitions that are to come.
