Sacking Manuel Pellegrini will be costly for West Ham

West Ham United have failed to pick up a single point so far in the Premier League this season and it is believed it could cost them dearly if they were to make drastic changes.

According to a report by The Times, should they look to terminate Manuel Pellegrini’s contract, it could cost them around £15million to do so.

It has been claimed that there is not a termination clause inserted into the Chilean’s deal with the London Stadium outfit, meaning he could demand the full amount of his contract should the Hammers decide to part company with him before it is too late.

West Ham have usually been very aware of the finances that they have spent in the past, however, that all went into the wind when the former Manchester City boss arrived, as they made him one of the highest paid managers and spent almost £100m on players to try and turn the club into a competitive force.

However, the Irons are a side that usually gives their managers time to turn things around and are determined to offer Pellegrini the same opportunity as his predecessors at the London Stadium.

The Verdict:

West Ham should look to keep Pellegrini on for as long as they can – if not just to say themselves a hefty compensation payout.

The Chilean has experience of winning the Premier League, and although he would not be expected to do that with the Hammers, he should have enough about him to turn things around and get them firing in the near future.

However, looking ahead to their next three games following the international break, it could be some time before they get their first points of the season with Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United all to play before the end of September.
