Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are glad that Mauricio Pochettino’s future has been resolved after Real Madrid dropped their interest in the Argentine.
The former Espanyol boss penned a new deal at White Hart Lane earlier in the week before Zinedine Zidane announced his departure from Real Madrid. Pochettino immediately emerged as the favourite to take over despite his new deal. However, it seems Los Blancos will instead pursue other targets.
Our punters are delighted that Pochettino will remain in charge of the club and are eager to see who he will sign now the transfer window is open. The future of Mousa Dembele will be high on his priority list with the Belgian’s contract expiring which has attracted the attention of Inter Milan. To allow Dembele to leave for Italy, Spurs must demand the services of Ivan Perisic in exchange.
Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Croatian winger has been one of Inter’s best players in recent seasons. He netted 11 goals and notched 11 assists in 37 Serie A appearances last season and is the perfect player to add goals to the Spurs side. The 29-year-old is an extremely versatile forward, he can play on either flank, as the central striker or as a number 10.
Perisic loves to cut inside and is comfortable on either foot. He would provide healthy competition for Heung Min-Son on the Tottenham left wing and allow Pochettino to rotate his squad in order to compete on multiple fronts next year.
