Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be growing more concerned as each day goes by with the managerial merry-go-round starting to take effect.
The Magpies assured themselves Premier League safety last weekend when they beat Arsenal 2-1 at St. James’ Park and subsequently called for Arsene Wenger to resign from his position at the Gunners at the end of the season.
That has led to speculation that Rafa Benitez could be targeted for the top job, however, he has recently denied any interest and has stated that he is happy in the North-East and wants to continue his project with them.
The locals were delighted that the Spaniard has committed his future to the club and will be hoping he can take further up into the table, although, there will be a growing concern that he may not be there once the season starts.
According to a report in the Chronicle Live, discussions between Benitez and owner Mike Ashley have still not taken place, with both having different views on what should happen. The Newcastle boss has been vocal with his displeasure about the lack of financial backing and is keen to make changes to how the academy produces players for the future.
Punters in the Tavern may start to become concerned with the situation, although it is worth noting that Benitez will prefer to get things sorted once there are no more fixtures left to play. He is more focused with on-the-pitch issues and is more than certain to have talks once the campaign comes to an end.
