Despite missing Everton's last Premier League game due to suspension, Richarlison has been the club's standout summer signing so far.

The Brazilian impressed in both the Toffees' 2-2- draw with Wolves, in which he grabbed two goals, and the club's 2-1 win over Southampton where he also managed to score.

However, in his absence, praise has since shifted to other summer arrivals Lucas Digne and Kurt Zouma with the pair's compatriot Morgan Schneiderlin the latest to talk up their recent displays.

The Breakdown

Speaking about the duo on Evertontv (via Everton official club website), Schneiderlin said: "They are two very good players, we know that. Two games in a matter of days is not easy but they both produced very good performances. We need that for the rest of the season.

“They are settling well and add depth to the squad. They are very nice guys and good players, which makes it easy. They speak good English, too."

Going into the new season, defence is the area that Everton desperately needed to strengthen, and the additions of both Zouma and Digne have done just that.

Without question, Zouma is an upgrade on the likes of captain Phil Jagielka, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate while in Digne, Everton look to finally have a good alternative and long-term successor to Leighton Baines.

With Yerry Mina also at the club as well as Zouma and Digne, Everton certainly have the options at the back to fight for a Europa League qualification spot.

Ultimately, manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have done well to get Mina, Zouma and Digne through the door, players who should put Everton on course for a good season.
