West Ham supporters have been pretty satisfied in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side stretch their unbeaten Premier League run to five matches with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
David Moyes’ men went into their clash at the London Stadium off the back of two wins and two draws in their preceding four league games, a run of form which has seen them put a bit of distance between themselves and the bottom three. And they added another point to their tally last weekend as a Javier Hernandez effort 17 minutes from time cancelled out Ryan Fraser’s opener just moments earlier, leaving both sides hovering in mid-table in the Premier League.
Consequently, most Hammers fans in the Tavern have been pretty upbeat this week, and they are likely to be further intrigued by a recent report from The Daily Mail, which suggests that manager Moyes is to send scouts to check out Dundee’s Jack Hendry in their clash with Hibernian this evening.
The 22-year-old made the move to the Scottish Premiership outfit during the summer and has since hit the ground running with appearances in all 22 of their league games this term, of which he has started 21.
And the young Scottish defender must be doing something right as reports in the last few weeks have linked Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic with his services, while recent reports suggest that West Ham, alongside some other Premier League clubs, are to send scouts to watch him in action against Hibs tonight.
And with Scottish giants Celtic reportedly unwilling to pay his £1.5 million asking price, Moyes may sense an opportunity to land Hendry should his scouts approve of his efforts for Dundee this evening.
Landlord’s verdict: Jack Hendry has performed admirably in the heart of the Dundee backline so far this season, missing just 45 minutes of Scottish Premiership action and starting their last 21 matches in the league.
And the 22-year-old will reportedly be watched by scouts from several clubs this evening, including David Moyes’ West Ham, who could be on the lookout for young defensive talent in a bid to shore up their backline in the years to come.
And should Hendry produce another fine showing this evening, the Hammers boss may well be interested in bringing the £1.5 million man to the London Stadium.
