Seamus Coleman remerges as a target for Manchester United

The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would love to see him at Old Trafford…

Despite the protestations of a few of the Man Utd fans propped up by the bar, Matteo Darmian’s Man Utd career looks over.

The Italian looked impressive in parts last season, but a post-Christmas slump seemingly drew the ire of Mourinho prior to his move to Old Trafford.

Now, with the Portuguese boss 7 weeks into his debut season in Manchester, Darmian has firmly entrenched himself as a backup option on the right-hand side; with Antonio Valencia preferred in the role by Mourinho.

However, given that Valencia is not a natural full-back – his continued spell in the role is likely just a matter of circumstance; and he could be replaced sooner rather than later…

As per the Sunday People (via the Mirror),  Man Utd are eyeing a move for Everton defender Seamus Coleman, with Mourinho keen to reinforce his defensive line.

United were reportedly keen on Coleman last year under Louis van Gaal – but a deal never materialised.

After moving to Everton in 2009, Seamus Coleman has established himself as the Blues first choice right back, having made 184 Premier League appearances thus far.

The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would be delighted if this move happened. Coleman is a favourite amongst the punters in attendance, and the United fans are desperate to see a natural full back playing in defence.

Our landlord isn’t so sure the deal will go ahead, though. He feels that Everton rejected an approach last year for a reason – and Coleman has only gotten better since then.
