‘Seeing him and Theirry Henry was just magical’ – Arsenal fans reminisce on Twitter

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been looking back at one of their best ever players, Dennis Bergkamp. The Dutchman signed for the club 23-years ago yesterday and the fans have been taking the opportunity to remember his brilliance in an Arsenal shirt as they prepare for the start of a new Premier League season under Unai Emery.

Bergkamp will go down as one of the best players to have graced the Premier League. He struck up a deadly partnership with Thierry Henry in the early 2000’s and it will be a tough ask for Unai Emery to find a player of the same ability to Bergkamp. The support striker played for The Gunners for 11 years before hanging his boots up in 2006, although 12 years on is his brilliance is still fondly remembered by Arsenal fans.

This summer Arsenal have already brought in Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno to try and tighten up their defence for the new season, however, the fans are all waiting for the club to announce the signing of Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan midfielder isn’t quite as talented as Bergkamp was but he has the potential to leave the same impact on fans as the Dutchman, with his incredible work rate and tidy passing, he could become a real fan favourite.
