Seemingly inevitable departures surely show FSG what they must do for Liverpool in January

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their sides recent run of form will continue throughout the hectic winter period.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have picked up ahead of steam in recent weeks with a succession of sublime attacking performances both domestically and in Europe. The feeling amongst the Kopites in the Tavern is that Manchester City have already opened up an unassailable lead at the summit of the table and as such, will be impossible to catch this season.

However, after successfully qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League earlier this week, the Liverpool fans will instead be dreaming of a sixth European cup rather than a Premier League title this season.

Liverpool’s current squad are certainly capable of going far in Europe’s greatest cup competition, but they could certainly benefit from further reinforcements in January.

With that being said, it is no surprise to hear Liverpool being linked with OGC Nice’s Jean Michael Seri in The Daily Mail earlier this month.

The Ivorian international could prove to be a magnificent purchase for Jurgen Klopp if they can fend off competition from some of Europe’s heavyweights to secure his signature.

Seri who is a central-midfielder by trade is capable of operating in both deep and advanced midfield roles.

The former Pacos Ferreira talent oozes composure when collecting the ball in tight spaces, especially in front of the back four, and his ability to dictate play would certainly provide Liverpool with a new dynamic in the centre of midfield.

Considering the futures of Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho are still hanging finely in the balance, the purchase of a midfielder who possesses the ability to play in a variety of central positions would certainly soften the blow of losing the aforementioned players.

The signing of Seri will undoubtedly carry an element of risk as he only has 2 years of experience playing at a top level in European football, but based on the evidence of his versatility and technical ability, Liverpool should be in the hunt for his signature this January.
