The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their 19-year-old wonderkid, Marcus Edwards, has had his loan spell at Norwich City cut short. The Independent claim that Edwards’ loan has been terminated for personal reasons, although unfortunately for Spurs fans, there could be a bigger cloud hanging over the head of one of their academy’s brightest prospects.
The start of the 2016/17 season was huge for Spurs fans. The club was fresh off of the back of their strongest Premier League season in history where they finished 3rd behind Leicester and Arsenal and were ready to kick on and challenge for the title again. Pre-season had been a strong one and one name was on the lips of the fans – Marcus Edwards. The youngster, at the age of just 17, had impressed against Atletico Madrid and Juventus in the International Champions Cup despite the fact Spurs lost both games.
From there, Spurs fans couldn’t wait to see the youngster give a chance with the seniors when it mattered. Eventually, Edwards was given a chance from the bench against Gillingham in the League Cup. The academy man came on with the score at 5-0 and pulled a great save out of Gillingham’s ‘keeper, but was unable to bag his first Spurs goal. The versatile winger went on to need surgery after suffering an ankle injury, coupled with attitude problems and now a failed loan, the hopes aren’t quite so high for Spurs 19-year-old prodigy as the Ravel Morrison comparisons start to come in.

It seems a shame that the next Messi isn't going go fulfill his potential.

remember when some of our fans were furious because Poch wouldn't play him or include him in match day squads? Clowns. Trust Poch.

Good! Get @RyanMason to take him under his wing, teach him how to be a pro and guide the man to greatness at our beloved club!

Would like to know what’s going on? Got a great ovation when walking past us at Fulham last year…not heard anything positive since.

Plenty of speculating as per usual. At only 19, he has time on his side to turn things around.

Looks like he will never fulfill what is absolutely massive potential
