‘Sell him’, ‘Simply has to go’ – Man United fans slate star on Twitter after Tottenham Hotspur defeat

The Manchester United fans were completely underwhelmed by the quality of their side’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last night.

Jose Mourinho took his side to Wembley last night to face Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham for a huge clash in the context of the race for the top-four. United had enjoyed a hat-trick of victories prior to facing Spurs, but their winning run came to a disappointing end as they lost 2-0 in North-London.

The result was obviously a major concern for the United supporters, but it was the manner of defeat which deeply troubled the Red Devils propping up our bar in the tavern. United desperately struggled to find their rhythm all evening going forward and defensively they looked majorly prone to errors.

In the aftermath of proceedings, the United fans took to Twitter to voice their concern over the overall performance and slate individual players for their abject performances.

Although Phil Jones crashed the ball beyond a helpless David De Gea to double Tottenham’s advantage after just 28 minutes, it was his centre-back partner Chris Smalling who took the brunt of the criticism on Twitter.

The majority of United fans have voiced their concern not only over his performance last night, but also on his long-term credentials to play at the heart of Mourinho’s defence, and with those concerns in mind the supporters have begun calling for his departure next summer.

Here’s what the United fans had to say about Smalling’s performance last night…
