Manchester United fans in the Tavern have had a strange relationship with their no-holds-barred style midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, since he signed under David Moyes back in 2013. However, reports yesterday have stated that the big Belgian has rejected a second contract offered to him by Jose Mourinho and the Man United hierarchy.
The £10.8 million midfield man, as rated by the good people over at Transfermarkt, is currently out injured with a knee problem and isn’t expected to back until the end of March. The Belgian’s injury has been a recurring theme this season, his most recent appearance was a short seven-minute cameo against Tottenham in January where after being subbed on he had to be substituted himself with a problem in his knee.
Fellaini has had a hard time during his five year spell in Manchester, having signed from Everton for a fee of £29.16 million, many United fans didn’t believe that Fellaini warranted such a large price tag and then when performances on the pitch turned sour most supports at Old Trafford failed to see a way back for the ex-Standard Liege man.
In recent years Fellaini has turned the heads of some Manchester United fans though, with a number of encouraging showings for current manager Jose Mourinho, who seems to appreciate the physical prowess of the 30-year-old. However, with the on-going contract dispute, it’s easy to assume that we may have already seen Fellaini’s last appearance for the red devils.
This is what the United fans said:

Fellaini declined a second contract offer from Manchester United? This just shows Mourinho's preference for brawn over brain. Fellaini is a second rate footballer. Simple. He should be begging to play for United not the other way round.
