West Ham United has had a brilliant transfer window so far and spirits are high at the London Stadium ahead of the new era under Manuel Pellegrini's leadership, but a recent report from Sky Sports suggests that he could be set to make his first transfer blunder.

According to the report, Barcelona are surprisingly set to hold talks with West Ham regarding the acquisition of Domingos Quina after scouts of the Catalan giants watched him play a starring role in Portugal's 5-0 victory over Ukraine at the UEFA U19 championships.

Quina has been rumoured with a potential move to the Championship this summer in a bid to acquire first-team football, so the latest report arrives as something of a surprise.

The report claims that West Ham are willing to accept a bid for Quina 'in excess of £600,000' - a fee which represents peanuts in the current market.

Although Quina still has plenty of developing to do before breaking into the first-team at West Ham, the fact that Barcelona - one of the greatest football clubs on the planet - are interested in completing a deal for his services suggests that they would be foolish to sanction his departure this summer.

The only deal which Pellegrini should be accepting for Quina this summer is a temporary season-long loan deal to a club who can offer assurances regarding first-team opportunities; under no circumstances should he be sold to Barcelona.

Quina appeared for the first-team last season when the Hammers faced Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and, although he struggled to cope with the intensity across a 90 minute match, there was enough potential on show to suggest he is a player that could blossom into a fine Premier League midfielder in the future.

Declan Rice's performances last season illuminated the huge level of success which can be found by placing trust in talented youth players, so Pellegrini simply cannot afford to let a future star slip through the net this summer in the midst of a promising window for the club.
