Liverpool fans have raised a few eyebrows in the Football Transfer Tavern, with Sky Sports reporting that West Ham United star Mohamed Diame claims he is a transfer target for the Reds this summer.
Diame claimed he was close to moving to Anfield two years ago when Kenny Dalglish was in charge, only to see the move collapse late on.
The Reds have climbed to the top of the Premier League table since, whilst Diame has struggled to recapture his best form at Upton Park this season.
Recent reports have however suggested that the Reds could move for the Senegalese international midfielder in order to bolster their squad for next season’s Champions League.
“Two years ago I wanted to join a team with ambitions,” said Diame.
“Overall, my season has been okay, although I think it is not up to last season. I started badly, but gradually I got my bearings.
“Liverpool? I can’t tell you if I will be a Liverpool player next season. But I think my name is still on their wanted list.
“I don’t hide it, I’m ambitious and I want to join a top-six side. I am 26 years old and it’s time to take that step.”
