Despite a mixed start to Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League campaign, one man still feels the squad is good enough to win trophies.
The defender has been in and out of the first-team under Mauricio Pochettino this season, although he has no problems with it and believes the squad is as strong as possible to compete for trophies.
“The team is good enough to win trophies, look at the squad, look at the players,” he told football.london.
“It’s big you know? We have good strikers, midfielders and defence. Now it’s about belief.
“Just believe and go. Last season we lost the semi-final against Manchester United and afterwards I saw the players and they were so sad because they wanted to win, but don’t stop.
“Every week and every day is different. When you want to win, when you want something, God will give it to you. I believe in this team because it has so much quality. We just need to believe.”
Aurier has previous experience of having won silverware, as his time at Paris Saint-Germain has been decorated by a number of trophies.
Although it is well documented that Spurs did not make any additions to their squad in the summer, Pochettino managed to keep the core of his team together.
Aurier, who is valued at £18million via Transfermarkt, is certainly right to suggest that they do have the strength to make a challenge for silverware, however, there will be doubts about the depth of players the club has available to them in order to compete.
Tottenham can extremely close to lifting their first trophy for the first time in a decade, however, with question marks over their early season form already, it remains to be seen if whether this is the year for them to break that duck.
