Serie A clubs target Sunderland duo for transfer swoop

mannoneSunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are gathered around the pool table discussing reports that two players could soon be leaving the club.

The Sunderland Echo is reporting that Bologna are interested in signing Jordi Gomez, whilst Verona are considering making a move for goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

Should Gomez decide to make the move to Italy, he would be reunited with Emanuele Giaccherini, who is currently on loan at the club from Sunderland.

Gomez hasn’t played for Sunderland during the last month, and he doesn’t appear to be part of manager Sam Allardyce’s plans for the club, so a move may be in the best interests of both parties.

As for Mannone, he has made just one appearance for Sunderland this season which came in the League Cup earlier in the season.

Both players have 18 months left on their current deals at the club, and could raise the club some funds to strengthen the club’s squad as they fight for safety in the Premier League.

The Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are not overly concerned that both players could leave the club, and hope that all funds raised will be put back into strengthening the team.
