The Sun have a rather interesting claim here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that Tottenham Hotspur may be ready to offload their record signing this January.
Erik Lamela has struggled since arriving at White Hart Lane in the summer and it seems that finally enough is enough for the Argentine outcast.
The former Roma player came with a huge reputation for delivering not only very watchable performances but also a Gareth Bale-like match winning ability and that has not been the way it has gone thus far during his spell in North London.
The player cost the club a whopping £30 million and has totally failed to deliver.
After a managerial change and a better run of results, it seems that Lamela could well be on his way out of the club – at least until the start of next season.
The player’s father even claimed he was keen to leave, noting: “Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy. Tottenham do not want him to leave in January.”
Not only are Serie A giants Inter Milan keen on the player, but Lazio are also more than open to the prospect of a loan deal.
Spurs would ideally like to keep one of their most attacking players but are aware that Lamela needs to rebuild his confidence by getting a run of games in the starting eleven – be it in Serie A or the Premier League.
Will Spurs allow Lamela to leave? Let us know your thoughts below.
