Chelsea fans enter the Football Transfer Tavern to the news in the Daily Mail that Roma are planning a January move for £7 million-rated Petr Cech with the club legend having lost his place to Thibaut Courtois.
A January transfer has been expected as soon as Jose Mourinho picked Courtois to start in goal in their first Premier League fixture against Burnley.
Since then the 32-year-old veteran has always said he will remain patient and fight for his place in the team before conceding a couple of months ago that if his position doesn’t improve by January, he will have to look elsewhere for first team football.
Since making his most recent statement, the Czech Republic international has picked up interest from across Europe with Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid amongst a group of stellar teams interested.
Speaking recently, Jose Mourinho admitted that the club had received no offers for Cech throughout November.
Mourinho said: “On my desk, normally from my board’s desk the information arrives, I have zero. Zero proposals.
“At this moment, Petr Cech is our goalkeeper and has a contract for two more years.
“He’s a fantastic professional and puts the team’s interests first. Not once has Petr Cech knocked on my door to inform me of his desire to accept some proposal. This is my truth. Nothing more I can say.”
Chelsea fans. If you could choose Petr Cech’s next club, where would you like him to go given you’d probably despise him in an Arsenal or Liverpool jersey? Let us know your thoughts below.
