It’s been another miserable weekend for Newcastle United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern, and John Richardson from The Express reckons he has an exclusive that is about to make it even worse.
Italian giants Juventus are reportedly lining up a summer move for Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul to replace the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.
The Serie A leaders have one eye on the future, knowing that 36-year-old Buffon is approaching the latter stages of his career.
Krul is a player they have earmarked as a potential replacement, after another impressive season between the sticks under Alan Pardew.
The Toon Army now face a challenge to keep hold of one of their top players, with the report suggesting Juventus are set to make a £10 million offer for the Dutch international this summer.
Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is also interested in signing Krul, with the future of on loan Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina still undecided.
The 26-year-old is currently out with a knee injury, and is unlikely to be selected in Louis van Gaal’s Holland squad for the summer’s World Cup.
Krul feels a potential move to one of the top clubs in Italy would boost his international selection chances.
Newcastle fans. Can you see Krul leaving for Italy this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
