talkSPORT reveal to our punters inside the Football Transfer Tavern that Newcastle United defender Davide Santon has become a transfer target for fallen Serie A giants AC Milan.
This is after attracting interest from several Serie A clubs last summer including Roma.
The 23-year-old is currently sidelined until late November after recovering from knee surgery but this has not put off the Italian giants who are keen to snap him up as soon as January.
Milan are more than aware of his talent and potential after his three-year spell at arch-rivals Inter Milan where he made 40 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
The Magpies are bracing themselves for a January bid for the Italian international with Rossoneri boss Filippo Inzaghi keen to negotiate.
Newcastle have endured a poor start to the season but have built up some momentum of late after defeating Tottenham and Liverpool, meaning the young Italian may be happy to stay at St. James’ Park.
That said, he may be tempted by the thought of joining a Milan side who are looking to emulate the glory years, not to mention Santon returning to his homeland and the San Siro to challenge for trophies.
