Stoke City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping they can keep hold of their defensive rock after talkSPORT revealed that Roma are considering a move for Ryan Shawcross.
The manager of the Italian giants Rudi Garcia is interested in the powerful 27-year-old as he looks to bring some added resilience to his side and it is reported that the Potters have been approached regarding his availability.
Shawcross has remarkably made over 300 appearances for the Potters and it doesn’t shock punters that he is beginning to pick up interest from an elite European side.
They believe that with Roma voicing an interest, this could reignite Manchester United’s interest as they have been linked with re-signing Shawcross time and time again in the past.
He has been ever-present for Mark Hughes’ fresh looking Stoke City side this tern and is considered one of their key players.
But there are fears that he could follow in Steven N’Zonzi’s footsteps with the French midfielder being linked with a move to Rafael Benitez’s Napoli.
Mark Hughes has to be careful because as his Stoke side begin to improve and play more free flowing football, their talents will pick up interest and it is up to both him and the Potters board to ensure they keep hold of them.
