Serie A giants scout Chelsea star ahead of potential summer bid

Fernando TorresChelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been celebrating their side’s progression to the last eight of the Champions League all day.

The Blues were able to ease past a limp Galatasaray outfit thanks to first half goals from Samuel Eto’o and Gary Cahill. Even legendary Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was kept quiet as he again graced the Stamford Bridge turf.

However attention has switched back to another striker who only made a late cameo role for Jose Mourinho’s side last night.

Mail Online speculate that Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio was at the game as the Serie A club plan a move for the former Liverpool man.

Only last week the Inter chief conceded that Torres’ wages would be out of reach for the San Siro club but he still apparently remains on the Nerazzurri’s transfer wishlist as Walter Mazzarri tries to shake up his team in the summer.

New Indonesian owner Erick Thohir is willing to back the Italian giants with Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic confirmed as joining his setup for the start of next season.

Torres still has two years left on his contract but could depart as Mourinho seeks a world class striker to further improve the Chelsea team with the club prepared to cut their losses on the misfiring Spanish international.

It is also thought that Inter could be tracking Torres’ team-mate John Obi Mikel with the same report suggesting that the Nigerian could emerge as a target alongside the ex-Atletico Madrid star.

Do you think the £50m man should be given more time at Stamford Bridge or are you sick of the sight of him now? Let us know your thoughts below.
