Manchester United supporters are looking downcast in the Football Transfer Tavern today following yesterday’s 4-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City.
Their mood has not been improved in regards to the latest report regarding a recent trialist at Old Trafford.
Today’s copy of The Express suggests that United face a battle in keeping Brazilian teenager Bruno Gomes in Manchester with Serie A outfit Udinese looking to land him.
The Italian club are looking to sign the youngster as they seek a replacement for Liverpool target Luis Muriel who could depart the Stadio Friuli in the near future.
It was thought that Gomes would link up with the Red Devils when he turned 18 after completing a successful trial under Sir Alex Ferguson last season and there were even rumours that he was part of the club’s pre-season tour last summer.
But new United boss David Moyes appears less than convinced about his talents and despite holding first refusal over the youngster due to the club’s link up with his current side Desportivo in Brazil, the former Everton manager could let him join Udinese instead.
Udinese have build up a solid reputation for developing young South American talent and, having seen starlet Alexis Sanchez joining Barcelona back in 2011, could now target Gomes as a replacement for impressive Colombian hitman Luis Muriel.
Muriel has been rumoured to be interesting Liverpool as they look to find a possible replacement for Luis Suarez, and Udinese appear to have confirmed that the 22-year-old will leave the Zebrette in the January transfer window.
What does the future hold for this promising Brazilian youngster? Let us know your thoughts below.
