Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern were brought back down to earth last night after Borussia Dortmund’s sucker punch winner in their Champions League tie.
The Gunners may be flying high at the top of the Premier League right now but they came unstuck against last year’s Champions League finalists at the Emirates Stadium yesterday evening.
Robert Lewandowski stuck a counter attack winner against the run of play with just eight minutes remaining.
However now Mirror Football has news that could put a smile back on the faces of those Gunners in the bar. The paper reports that Juventus striker Fernando Llorente is keen on a winter loan switch to Arsenal as he looks to improve his World Cup chances.
The 28-year-old Spanish international has struggled since making the summer switch from Atletico Bilbao and that could see him leaving Turin as he seeks regular football ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
Llorente has been earmarked by Arsene Wenger as a possible January signing as he looks to bring in competition for the in-form Olivier Giroud and push on for the Premier League title.
Wenger had tried to sign Llorente before he penned terms at Juve but given his lack of chances with the Bianconeri, he could now be available again in the near future.
Other options include the man who put them to the sword last night Lewandowski, but he appears likely to sign for Bayern Munich while Liverpool striker Luis Suarez looks happy to stay at Anfield as the Reds continue their impressive start to the season.
Llorente could provide a short-term option for the Gunners and a possible loan move could be on the cards.
Would the loan signing of Llorente please you Arsenal fans? Let us know your thoughts below.
