The Daily Express have Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern willing to place down their pints and move towards the bar to hear their latest bit of news.
This is because the publication have claimed that the Red Devils have made Roma star Kevin Strootman their number one transfer target this summer.
As one of our punters shouts over from the pool table, Strootman is someone new manager Louis van Gaal knows well from the Dutch national team and despite the player missing out this summer’s World Cup in Brazil due to injury, he is when fit, one of the players at the very top of his game.
Given Strootman will cost around £25 million, we think that van Gaal means serious business this summer and United will once again be a side to be reckoned with next season.
United reportedly have handed van Gaal the equivalent of a blank chequebook this summer in order to rebuild the squad and it certainly seems that he is looking to the players he knows well from the international set-up to do this.
Manchester United fans. Would you take the chance on Strootman or would you prefer to see how he comes back from injury first and then make a swoop? Let us know your thoughts below.
