Arsenal fans look rather confused at the latest claim in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Mail reported that a move for Mario Balotelli is pure speculation.
The AC Milan forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners this summer and it was thought that Arsene Wenger was not only prepared to pay nearly £30 million for him but that mutual sponsor Puma would also help push through the deal.
Now just as Arsenal fans dared hope they might sign someone, their hopes have been dashed with Wenger coming out and flatly denying the claims.
He noted: “No, no that’s pure invention.
“We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on the internet or is in the newspapers.
“Sometimes it is created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, It’s not true.”
Whilst our punters are more than happy to believe this, one thing that they are now slightly concerned over is the fact that Wenger seems yet again to be leaving it quite late to be linked with or indeed ensuring the signatures of any players of note.
Arsenal fans. At what point is it time to panic? Would you like to sign Balotelli? Let us know your thoughts below.
