Arsenal fans are looking downcast here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the latest claim from Metro is discussed.
Gunners fans were hopeful over the possibility of landing Juventus star Paul Pogba after club president Andrea Agnelli admitted the Italian giants would struggle to keep hold of him.
Earlier this week he spoke about the financial issues in Serie A and referred to AC Milan being forced to sell their two stars, Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in order to keep the books balanced.
He also threw doubt on the future of Pogba, who is tied to the Turin club until 2016.
Despite this, the player’s agent, Mino Raiola noted that: “Nobody in the world can refuse an indecent offer but Paul is serene and well in Turin.
“He is fine where he is. We want to renew with Juventus and we have our clear strategy. Paul is very quiet and peaceful here, Juve would have no reason to worry.”
That is of course bad news for Arsenal fans, but something Manchester United fans look gleeful about.
The club of course allowed Pogba to leave – something that Patrice Evra noted was a huge mistake. Given the form the 20-year-old has shown since being given a regular first team chance in Italy, you can hardly say he was wrong.
Looking at the midfield currently at the disposal of David Moyes however, it seems that the person that was wrong would be Sir Alex Ferguson, who happily sold the player.
As one of our United fans in the tavern moans, imagine if he would have been given the chance he asked for?
Is this a big loss for Arsenal or can a huge offer swing the deal? Let us know your thoughts below.
