The resident Hammers in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying life under David Moyes since he took charge from Slaven Bilic in early November.
West Ham United have been resurgent under the leadership of Moyes in recent weeks, although they still find themselves in the midst of a relegation scrap after 20 fixtures. But the signs are encouraging for the Hammers faithful propping up the bar, who firmly believe that their side have demonstrated a noticeable improvement since the club made the unpopular decision to appoint Moyes on a short-term contract.
The Irons final fixture of 2017 is an away match against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley – a ground where they have already recorded victory this year in a 4th round Carabao Cup tie.
Now that Moyes has had plenty of time to assess the capabilities of his squad, he will be well placed to identify the areas which are most in need of improvement in the January transfer window.
And according to ESPN, Moyes is in the market for a central defender next month, with Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson firmly on his radar.
The rumours have certainly not managed to inspire the entirety of West Ham’s fan base on Twitter so far, but there are plenty of voices of support in Claret and Blue who are strongly advocating a move for Mawson next month.
Here’s what the West Ham supporters had to say about their club’s links with Mawson…
Think he would be a descent signing and at least his young

It would be a good move for @AlfieMawson and for WHU. He showed loads of promise at @BarnsleyFC and has since shown same at Swansea. He is young and will improve even more.

Good player. A lot of people clearly don’t know what they’re talking about saying he’s bad. Was vital for Swansea staying up last season.

Alfie is a strong ball playing defender,Strong tackler and great header of the ball.

I'd take Alfie Mawson. Good defender and would do well with Reid and Ogbonna. Young & English.

Great buy if it comes off. Collins and Fonte both getting on so who’s to say Mawson AND Oxford won’t play together?! Would love to see that.

Why fume over this? Good player, English so price is obviously inflated. The only question is where do Oxford/rice/Burke fit in?

West Ham would have themselves a serious bargain with Alfie Mawson for £25m, especially considering other fees. He is a top class player. Swans only prem league level player currently. Both a footballing and no nonsense CB.
