The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the Jurgen Klopp’s injury update on young defender, Joe Gomez. Whilst speaking to Liverpool’s website, Klopp has said that Gomez will miss the next couple of games but will play for The Reds again this season. Gomez sustained an ankle injury just ten minutes into England’s friendly fixture against The Netherlands last Friday.
Joe Gomez has been a frustrating player during his career at Anfield. The youngster was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Charlton and suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his first season seeing him miss nine months of action. On his return things had changed at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp was the new boss and Gomez had to wait for his chance under the German.
Liverpool’s defence has been chopped and changed during the German’s tenure and with two huge games against Manchester City in the Champions League on the horizon, the absence of Gomez will be a huge loss to the Anfield side. Our resident Reds will be hoping that former Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne could be back in contention for at least the second meeting between the two but for now, Klopp will be having headaches over his full-back options as he prepares to face Pep Guardiola.

Shame he’s injured, was probably nailed on for both city games. Hopefully he’s still in the frame for an England place.
