Sheffield United: Fans drooling over John Fleck performance against Arsenal

Sheffield United produced an outstanding performance to claim a 1-0 win against Arsenal at Bramall Lane on Monday (via BBC Sport).

The Blades took the lead after 30 minutes when Jack O’Connell nodded down Oliver Norwood’s corner, and Lys Mousset managed to tap in from close range.

Chris Wilder’s side were then defensively sound throughout the rest of the match to keep the Gunners at bay, which ensured that they moved up to ninth place in the Premier League table (BBC Sport).

Every player was excellent on the night for Sheffield United, but one who perhaps caught the eye more than most was John Fleck.

The midfielder was absolutely brilliant in the engine room and made three key passes, three accurate crosses and two accurate long balls, completed two dribbles and made one interception on a busy night (via WhoScored).

Fleck signed for the Blades in 2016 when they were in League One, but he has improved year-on-year as they have climbed up the divisions and he has looked at home in the top flight so far, starting in seven of their nine league outings to date (WhoScored).

BBC Sport named the Scotsman as their Man of the Match for the game against Arsenal, and several Blades fans were also suggesting that he was the best player on the pitch on the night, heaping plenty of praise on the 28-year-old…
