Sheffield United: Fans gush over club's FA Cup announcement - Premier League

Loads of Sheffield United fans reacted to a post from the club’s official account that announced the FA Cup is back.

The club confirmed that their Emirates FA Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal has been rescheduled to the last weekend of June. The Blades were initially due to face the Gunners the week after football was suspended in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the fixture was subsequently postponed (Examiner).

Club captain Billy Sharp scored the match-winner at Reading in the fifth round to set up the tie against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. However, the location and date/time of the match have yet to be released and it is unlikely that fans will be able to take a seat at Bramall Lane to watch the match given the current circumstances.

The Premier League announced earlier this week that the season will resume on June 17. Chris Wilder’s team go into the cup tie having picked up four points out of a possible six against Arsenal this season. Indeed, Lys Mousset scored the deciding goal at home to the Gunners in October – no doubt the past two results will give fans a confidence boost heading into the fixture.

Unsurprisingly, a whole section of the Sheffield United faithful gushed over the club’s update on social media, with one fan tweeting “Wilder masterclass incoming.”
