It was a superb afternoon for Sheffield United on Saturday, as they brushed aside Sean Dyche’s Burnley to win 3-0 at Bramall Lane (via BBC Sport).
The result was the Blades’ fourth win of the campaign and it lifted them up to sixth place in the Premier League table at the time of writing (BBC Sport).
There were several stand out performers on the day for the South Yorkshire side. John Lundstram grabbed most of the headlines after scoring two goals from midfield, whilst striker Lys Mousset claimed three assists (WhoScored).
However, another player whose performance also caught the eye of several Sheffield United supporters was Republic of Ireland international David McGoldrick.
He may not have scored, but the former Ipswich Town man was brilliant against the Clarets. Indeed he won two aerial duels, made three successful tackles and one clearance, played one key pass and one accurate cross in the 90 minutes, and finished with a WhoScored rating of 7.54.
McGoldrick is yet to score in the Premier League this season (WhoScored), but he proved again against Burnley why he is such a key player in Chris Wilder’s team.
Plenty of Blades supporters were left praising the contribution of the 31-year-old striker after the game, here is what some said on Twitter…
David McGoldrick has been fantastic again today. Link up play and ability to find space is superb. He’s vital to way we play. #sufc ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️

The most pleasing performance & result of the season – we simply looked every bit a top flight team, comfortable throughout, a routine win. 11 great performances, but McGoldrick in particular was superb – he’s become as important to us this season as Duffy was last season #sufc
