Sheffield United: Fans want Oliver McBurnie dropped after drink-driving charge

Sheffield United striker Oliver McBurnie has been charged with drink-driving (via BBC Sport).

The 23-year-old was pulled up by police in Leeds in the early hours of Friday morning, and according to West Yorkshire Police, will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on 6th November.

McBurnie joined the Blades from Swansea City in the summer for a club-record transfer fee of £20m (BBC Sport).

He has been a regular for Chris Wilder’s side so far this term, appearing in all eight of their Premier League outings, starting five, and scoring one goal which came against Leicester City in August (via Transfermarkt).

The striker recently missed out on Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifying double-header against Russia and San Marino (The Herald), but Wilder last week claimed that he would give him every chance to prove his fitness ahead of their next game against Arsenal (@SheffieldUnited).

However, that may now change and the Sheffield United boss may consider leaving the ex-Bradford City man out following the news of his drink-driving.

If it were up to the Blades fans, then it seems that McBurnie would definitely be dropped from the squad. Plenty of supporters have been reacting to the news, and a large number want to see him out of the side for the game against the Gunners…
