Sheffield United: Fans want to see Ollie Watkins signed in January

Ollie Watkins enjoyed another excellent night on Monday, scoring two goals as Brentford beat local rivals Queens Park Rangers 3-1 at Loftus Road (BBC Sport).

The 23-year-old has been outstanding this season, and his brace against the R’s took his overall goals tally to 10 in just 14 Championship appearances (via WhoScored).

It would be fair to say that he has shouldered the goalscoring responsibilities at Griffin Park following the departure of Neal Maupay to Brighton. Indeed, he is now the second highest scorer in the second tier with only Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic having bagged more with 11 (via BBC Sport).

Watkins’ performances are thought to be attracting admiring glances from the Premier League, with Sheffield United said to be one club potentially interested in signing him in January (via The Sun).

And after watching his excellent display against QPR, it seems that several Blades supporters would like their club to sign the forward in the winter transfer window.

Whilst Chris Wilder’s side have made a solid start to life in the Premier League, the one area they do perhaps need to improve upon is scoring goals. They have managed just nine in their opening 10 matches (BBC Sport), with only Lys Mousset having netted on more than one occasion (BBC Sport).
