Sheffield United could be set to rekindle their interest in Real Betis striker Loren Moron in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from Sport Witness.
The Blades reportedly monitored his situation in the summer, but he ended up staying in La Liga.
Following promotion to the Premier League last season, the Blades moved to bolster their striking options in the summer.
They signed Lys Mousset, Oliver McBurnie and Callum Robinson prior to the campaign kicking off, but they were also interested in bringing in Moron.
According to Sport Witness, the Blades made a €25m (£21.4m) bid for the Spaniard, but he opted to stay at Betis.
It has proven to be a good decision by the 25-year-old, who has netted eight times in 12 La Liga appearances this season (Transfermarkt), making him the joint-second-highest scorer in the division behind Karim Benzema and alongside Lionel Messi (BBC Sport).
However, the report from Sport Witness suggests that Chris Wilder’s side could be set to reignite their interest in the player in January.
Indeed, they quote Grada 3 in the article who says that the Blades could “come with great force” for Moron in the coming transfer window after being impressed with his form this term.
If Sheffield United can pull this off, it could well be a brilliant signing. After all, this is a player who has scored as many goals in La Liga as Messi so far this season (BBC Sport).
Whilst the Blades have been impressive so far in the Premier League, sitting in fifth place after 12 games (BBC Sport), the one area they have perhaps struggled in is scoring goals.
So adding a more prolific striker in January could be a smart move by the club, and Moron certainly fits that criteria based on his form this season.
