With Chris Wilder already securing the services of Phil Jagielka and Luke Freeman this summer, the Sheffield United boss may be about to make his third signing of the transfer window.
According to The Sun, the Blades are reportedly set to make Neal Maupay their club-record signing following Brentford’s decision to lower their valuation of the striker from £22m to £15m due to his desire to test himself in the Premier League.
The Bees’ top-scorer last season, the 23-year-old found the back of the net on 25 occasions in the Championship, a total which was only bettered by Teemu Pukki and Tammy Abraham (via BBC Sport).
In addition to his goal-scoring prowess, Maupay also demonstrated a creative flair for Brentford by providing eight assists for his team-mates in all competitions, as per WhoScored.
Yet despite their club seemingly closing in on one of Wilder’s main targets (as reported in The Star), some Blades supporters reacted to the latest update with frustration as with less than a month to go before the window slams shut in England, Maupay has yet to sign on the dotted line at Bramall Lane.
