Sheffield United players Dean Henderson and Jack O’Connell have made the Sky Sports team of the season after the outlet posted who they think deserve to be in the eleven from the campaign so far.
The goalkeeper and central defender join Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, as well as Leicester duo Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Taking O’Connell’s stats in this Premier League campaign, the 26-year old wins 5.5 total duels on average, and also makes 4.5 clearances, 1.3 interceptions and 0.8 tackles per game, according to Sofascore.
However, he has not only had an impact defensively, but in attack as well, as he often overlaps the midfield players in Chris Wilder’s system. The Englishman creates six big chances per match, and has also bagged himself an assist, as per the website. He also averages 64.1 touches, and provides 0.5 key passes per appearance.
Henderson has managed 11 clean sheets from 30 appearances in all competitions for the Blades this term, including 10 in the Premier League, according to Transfermarkt. The 23-year old has only conceded 24 goals in those games, and in a personal achievement, he has been tipped to play for the senior English national team.
His relatively impressive performances have meant that Wilder is desperate to have him back on loan again from Manchester United, according to The Sun, but admits that his future lies with the Red Devils.
Nevertheless, Henderson will remain with the Blades until the end of the campaign and will hope to build on his displays to cement himself in the team of the season.
