Many Sheffield United fans have criticised the Republic of Ireland football team for not picking centre-back John Egan.
The Blades official Twitter account tweeted out a picture profiling Egan’s stats for this season, and it only spurred fans to question why Richard Keogh, 33, is getting picked ahead of him.
The Cork-born 26-year-old has been in fine form for United as the club’s Twitter account suggests.
The account tweeted: “100% tackle success rate, 21 clearances, 82% passing success rate. Our rock at the back, John Egan”.
It’s been a great start for Sheffield United, who have amassed five points from their opening four games, winning once, drawing twice and losing once.
So far, Egan has started every game this season for the Blades, however, he was snubbed by his national side as they faced Switzerland at the Aviva on Thursday, with Shane Duffy and Richard Keogh being favoured by Mick McCarthy at the back.
Many Blades fans responded saying that they couldn’t believe that Egan wasn’t selected for his country, especially as there is a player seven years older in a lower division in his place.

Big fan of John but Richard Keogh has been excellent with Shane Duffy.
