Some Sheffield United fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Mark Duffy has been allowed to talk to other clubs amid speculation surrounding his future.
It was reported earlier this week that the 33-year-old had been told he would not be given a new deal at Bramall Lane despite being a part of the side which helped the Blades secure promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2007.
The former Scunthorpe, Morecambe, Burton, Doncaster, Birmingham and Chesterfield man is in the final year of his current deal.
He had a stellar season for Chris Wilder’s side last season, scoring six goals and assisting seven more in 36 Championship appearances.
And as a result, a couple of fans of the Yorkshire club are disappointed they have decided he can move on.
However, others believe he should stay and try to earn a new contract by putting in impressive performances in the Premier League.
Here is just some of the reaction:
Tonight Chris Wilder confirmed to the media that Mark Duffy is free to talk to other clubs following a breakdown in relations in regards to the Blades midfielder’s contract. Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, CW said the following… #sufc #twitterblades pic.twitter.com/QeFsrCMp7X

He could just knuckle down and play the way he’s played since league 1. Then he’ll be offered a contract

To many agents are ruining players careers & opportunities just to make a quick quid I’m sure if Duffy or anyone shined in the premier League wilder would reward them with improved terms

I’m pleased more info has been given, don’t get me wrong I love the duffman but I think it’s time for him to go now, we don’t need the disruption in the dressing room
