Sheffield United: Fans react to club post about Paul Coutts - Sheffield United

Loads of Sheffield United fans have admitted that they miss Paul Coutts after the club posted about him on their official Twitter page on Sunday.

The midfielder played for the Blades between 2015-19 and made a total of 136 appearances for them in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing 16 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).

His earlier years at the club were a struggle, indeed he was even transfer listed in 2016 shortly after Chris Wilder took over as manager (Sheffield Telegraph). However, he soon turned things around at Bramall Lane and that very season he went on to play 43 games as the South Yorkshire outfit stormed to the League One title (Transfermarkt).

He continued to be a regular in the early part of the following season in the Championship, starting 16 of their opening 17 matches until an injury ended his season (Transfermarkt). Despite returning to action the following year he found it tough to win his place back in the team following the arrival of Oliver Norwood.

By the end though, Coutts had become a firm favourite of Wilder’s and the Blades boss admitted that it was “hardest thing” he has had to do in his career when he told the midfielder he was going to be released last summer (Yorkshire Post).

It wasn’t just Wilder who was extremely fond of the Scotsman either. Indeed he had become something of a cult hero amongst the supporters, so much so that many still keep an eye on what he is doing for his new side Fleetwood Town.

Upon seeing the club’s post about Coutts, some Blades fans were left waxing lyrical about him, whilst others admitted that they really miss him. Here is what some had to say…
