Sheffield United: Fans react to ex-captain Maguire’s birthday - Sheffield United

Some Sheffield United fans have reacted to a post from the club’s official Twitter page wishing ex-captain Harry Maguire a happy birthday.

The England international played for the Blades during their campaigns in both League One and the Championship, making a total of 166 appearances in all competitions, providing 12 goals and 10 assists, which is arguably not bad for a central defender (via Transfermarkt). ‘Slab head’ as he is jokingly known by a lot of football fans has since played for Hull City, Leicester City and Manchester United in the Premier League and broken into the national team.

He is now known for being the most expensive defender of all-time, having cost Man United £80 million to acquire his services from Leicester City in the summer. His career at The Red Devils so far has produced two goals and two assists in all competitions (via Transfermarkt), one of them coming more recently in a 2-0 away win over Chelsea in the Premier League with a towering header, and before his first goal for the club was a thumping effort from outside the box away at Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup.

These Blades fans reacted to the tweet, with some of them wishing their ex-player a happy birthday:

Blades fans, do you miss your old captain? Would Maguire get into your starting line-up under Wilder? Is he the best player to have ever played at the club and if not, who is? Comment down below.
