Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram has admitted that he wants to stay with the club beyond this season (via Sky Sports).
Will Sheffield United be able to keep a hold of John Lundstram?
The 25-year-old’s current contract at Bramall Lane is set to expire at the end of the campaign.
Lundstram has been a regular for Sheffield United this season, starting in each of their opening 12 Premier League matches (Transfermarkt).
However, there may have been a few question marks about his long-term future given that his contract at the club is set to end in the summer.
Manager Chris Wilder recently hinted that the club wanted to talk to the player about a new deal (Sheffield Star), and it appears that Lundstram himself is also keen to extend his stay.
Speaking to Sky Sports about potentially signing a new contract at the club, the ex-Everton man said: “It would be great. When I spoke to the manager, I said it was all I wanted, to stay and play for this club.”
Tying Lundstram down to a new deal would be absolutely superb business from Sheffield United.
He has been brilliant so far this season and has contributed with three goals and one assist already from his position in midfield (Transfermarkt).
Not only would the Blades be getting one of their key players to commit his long-term future at Bramall Lane, but they would also be protecting their assets as it would see them avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.
Presuming he does sign, he would then become an extremely valuable asset to them both on and off the pitch if he can maintain the levels of performance he has shown so far.
