It has been an incredible year for everyone associated with Sheffield United, hasn’t it?
After just missing out on the play-offs at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, Chris Wilder weaved his magic in the transfer window to bring in the likes of David McGoldrick, Oliver Norwood, Dean Henderson and John Egan.
Yet despite all four of these signings creating a considerable buzz amongst the club’s supporters, it was the arrival of Kieran Dowell in January which caused the most excitement at Bramall Lane.
An England-under 21 international, the midfielder produced several moments of real quality for the Blades during his five-month stay in South Yorkshire.
Yet despite having helped United secure promotion to the Premier League by making 16 appearances in the second tier, it is uncertain whether Dowell will be making a permanent switch in the summer from Everton.
If Marco Silva decides to offer the midfielder a chance to prove himself at Goodison Park next season, Wilder will need to bring in a replacement this summer.
With transfer activity expected to be frantic at the Blades over the coming months, the 51-year-old should consider going all-out to bring in one of the Championship’s most exciting players.
An undeniably talented player, when at his very best the Italian is capable of producing the spectacular which is exactly what United will need if they are to clinch survival in the top flight next season.
Although trying to negotiate a deal with their arch-rivals could prove to be a tough task, by making an offer that the Owls cannot refuse, the Blades could lure Forestieri away from Hillsborough.
Arguably entering the prime of his career at the age of 29, the £4.5m-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) would undoubtedly want to prove himself in the Premier League and if this cannot be achieved with Wednesday, he may consider making the move across Sheffield to fulfil this particular dream.
What do you think Blades fans? Should Wilder consider going all-out to try and sign Forestieri? Would the Italian be a sufficient replacement for Dowell? Let us know below.
