Liverpool fans at the Transfer Tavern have been full of discussion this morning as they declare who their next manager should be and a shock contender has emerged, sparking more fuel into their fiery debates.
Sky Italia declare that former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has emerged as a candidate for the vacancy, which will come as a big surprise to many as Liverpool have been heavily linked with both Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti.
However, the reports suggest 45-year-old Di Matteo is a genuine target for the Reds despite being out of a job since leaving Schalke in May.
Di Matteo has Premier League experience after leading Chelsea to their inaugural Champions League title in 2012, before being ousted the following season.
Liverpool fans may see Di Matteo as a decent appointment but he is unlikely to raise excitement in the same way as Klopp or Ancelotti would, which is likely to leave many supporters at the Tavern disappointment if this rumour plays out.
