The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their title defence next season, but how will their new front man fare?
Reports La Gazzetta Dello Sport have revealed that Diego Costa’s agent is meeting with AC Milan representatives to discuss the player joining the famous club.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made it clear to the Spaniard that he is surplus to requirements at the club and our landlord is struggling to figure out why.
Chelsea confirmed the signing of Alvaro Morata recently so they have already found a replacement but why was one necessary?
Last season Costa scored 20 goals and contributed eight assists in 35 league games, and it is hard to imagine Morata doing the same or better than that in his debut season.
Conte should keep Costa around for at least another year to give Morata some competition in the side.
The Italian boss made it clear last year that he doesn’t think Michy Batshuayi is ready for the first team yet so what if Morata doesn’t suit life in the Premier League?
It is quite the risk to sell a proven Premier League goal scorer who should be entering the prime year of his career, to replace him with a striker who couldn’t break into the Real Madrid first team.
Obviously, getting into the Madrid first team is no easy task, but the point still stands it is a huge risk on Conte’s part.
