The resident Kopites in the Transfer Tavern took a shine to one of Bristol City’s players during their clash with Manchester City at The Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City hosted Bristol City last night for the first leg of their Carabao up Semi-final, and as many would have predicted, it was an exciting spectacle for the neutral to watch. Many Premier League teams have travelled to the Etihad this season and parked the bus inside their final-third in a bid to frustrate Guardiola’s side. Lee Johnson set up his high-flying Robins to go out and attack City from the minute go, and his positive approach almost paid off.
Bobby Reid gave Bristol City a dramatic first-half lead from the spot, before Kevin De Bruyne levelled things up in the 55th minute.
Despite defending valiantly and playing some positive football of their own, Johnson’s side were undone in stoppage time as Sergio Aguero headed home the winner after Bernardo Silva had floated a delightfully weighted cross towards the back post.
Naturally, The Robins were disappointed to concede so late on after such a valiant performance, but they will take confidence from their display into the second leg.
The performance of their centre back Aden Flint was one of the highlights of the evening for the travelling side, and he was awarded the man of the match award for his efforts.
And his performance even attracted the attention of the onlooking Liverpool supporters who were so impressed that they urged their club to bring him to Anfield this month on Twitter.
Here’s what the Liverpool supporters had to say about Flint…
