‘Sign him’ – Newcastle fans on Twitter all urging the club to do the same thing this summer

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Kenedy’s last game for the club in his loan spell. The young Brazilian has been one of the best players in the Northeast since he made the temporary switch from Stamford Bridge to St James Park in January. Last night though, was Kenedy’s last game for the club this season as he played 70 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Spurs.

Kenedy has helped the Magpies to a superb season. The club are sitting pretty in the top half of the table after a run of four wins in a row across March and April pulled them out of the relegation battle and had them looking like challenging Everton and Leicester for 8th place. Now with just one game left it’s impossible for the club to finish any higher than 10th, and they face a battle against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Watford to do that as all four of the clubs are on 41 points, with Newcastle edging the goal difference.

Next season the fans will be hoping the club can have Rafa Benitez tied down to a new deal and with it, they’ll be hoping the Spaniard can bring in Chelsea’s out-of-favour Brazilian winger, who’s been so influential in his short time on Tyneside. Kenedy has chipped in with two goals and two assists since he’s been a Magpie and when comparing him to the club’s other January loanee, Islam Slimani, it’s easy to put the 22-year-old down as a huge success.
